Surabaya’s international airport, Juanda International Airport (SUB) is the second busiest in Indonesia after Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta. It is approximately 20 kilometres southeast of town, accessed via a toll road from central Surabaya. In heavy traffic the journey can take in excess of an hour.
Domestic flights operate from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. International flights operate from Terminal 2. Taxis from the Prima Taxi are officially available on a pre-paid voucher system based on kilometres. A journey to Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga is approximately cost IDR 100.000-150.000 (USD 7-10). If you choose to save time by taking the toll road from the airport, the toll charges will be extra.
Regular metered taxi services are plentiful in Surabaya. Blue Bird and Orenz taxies are considered reliable. Online taxi / motorbike taxi services Go-jek (local flag) and Grab both operate in Surabaya. You’ll have to download the app and register.
